In addition to housing a turtle terrarium and fantastic view of Strawberry Fields, Belvedere Castle in New York’s Central Park is the site of a weather station. This project sought to redesign the interface of the weather kiosk to target young people, grades 4 and under.
The purpose of Weather Girls is to represent the current temperature in New York City through clothing and gesture. Made of simple animations, it is designed to take live data from the weather station, and within a range of 10 degrees play a corresponding animation throughout the day related to temperature. It currently runs as an interactive, clicking key girls at the bottom of the screen displays animations for conditions ranging from 0 to 90+ degrees.
